I need a new printer and have spotted some really good value ones. I liked an Epson which was also a copier and a scanner. It is only £40. My PC is 7 years old and I upgraded to Windows ME last year. Does anyone know if this old PC or Win ME will accept an up to date scanner/printer or would I have to buy a new PC too. Thanks

Do you have usb ports on the computer?? Most printers are usb connection today, if you dont have any usb you should look for something with a parrelell connection
Epson in my opinion is a is a ink hog and you cannot refill the cartriges yourself. Therefore it can get pretty expensive if you do a lot of printing...

ok thanks, I'll go for it. I guess I can always return it. My old printer is an Epson 400 and has served me well.

maxie1, If your in the UK, check this site out for your ink. Don't know the state of your wealth and bank balance but the last bog standard inkjet printer I bought was an Epson (it does a job) and I based some of the decision on the replacement cartridge costs.

I pay peanuts for my ink and it's excellent service ....and no, I don't work for them.

I have an Epsom model C80 and it does a wonderful job,. Store price is about $80.00 and it has Parallell and USB Ports. However Windows Me only supports USB1, but dont worry, it's fast enough. Printer is fast and prints to all papers but I use standard 3M bulk pack standard white and I get excellent color prints, Not Photo quality. You can use photo paper ,gloss and satin and get beautiful results. I use generic cartridges at less than 1/2 OEM price.and have found no problem with quality. When I install one, Epson lets me know that it is not OEM, I act nice and
acknowledge what they said and go on about my business. They cannot void your warranty for using non OEM ink, but the warranty is only good for a year anyway. I'm using Me with it
