Slowly but surely, my home network is evolving. ICS works now, and I can share files between the two computers. This was a problem earlier, but then I installed NetBeui on both machines, and everything worked fine.
I am wondering about security though. I have a server with two NICs, one with an ADSL connection to the Internet and one connected to the home network. As I mentioned, I have NetBeui installed and file sharing activated. I am sharing two folders on the server (with password protection). Does this setup represent a security risk? Can the shares be seen from the Internet? I should add that I have a static IP address. Is there any way to allow the sharing only on the one NIC on the server that is connected to the home network and not the one connected to the Internet?
Thanks for all of your suggestions so far with regard to my earlier problems. They have all been very helpful.
