Hi all.
A lot of questions today.Yesterday I got a new CD burner installed into my machine and the software that came with it was NERO Burning ROM.
I have heard a lot of good things about that program so this is good.
However there is a question I hope someone can answer.
With the software came another program (Additional software)called:
"Ahead InCD (Packet writing) supported Windows 95/98 compatible"
This program fires-up on startup and yet does not have a mention in the Start/Program menu as does
Nero.I am thinking of unchecking it from the startup menu as it appears to be, (almost) a duplication of 'Nero Burning-ROM'.
Any views?

INCD is the equiv. of Adaptecs DirectCD. [i think]
DirectCD allows you to format a cd-r and use it like a floppy. Gives you the ability to drag and drop data into the drive.
Having it start up with windows isnt neccesary. If it is started with windows you can simply stick a blank disk in and incd will recognize it. Or if your using a cd-r as a floppy it will be ready to go when windows starts.
If it isnt starting with windows you must first start the program so that its recognized.
Just uncheck it.. you can always start it if you need it.

Hey,
Ahead InCD is indeed a packet incrimental writing tool, meaning it could be used the way you use a floppy disk or harddrive. Once formatted using the packet incrimental writing file system, you don't have to open a nero session anymore, you can just drag the files to your cdwriter icon and they will be written. You can for example open a word file, type something in it, and save it on the fly to your cdrom without having to save it to your harddisk and then burning it to a cdrom. The program can be usefull, but I don't use it, the formatting process takes a bit to long for me, and this system always seems to break my cd's :)
Good luck

Minor correction for the INCD. It is used for the CD-RW function and needs the RW disks. You can drag/drop and delete and reuse space on the RW disk. It automatically starts when the RW disk is placed in the drive.
If you use a R disk, you use the nero program and have to start separately. Since the R disk is a one time use (although extended sessions can be selected) formating an R disk would ruin it.
