Hi, I bought my computer from Gateway in Dec. of 2000. It came with ME installed on it..My kids and such have just downloaded all kinds of crap, and done god knows what else to it,,It is constantly screwing up. I would like to just wipe it out and start over.I have saved all of my important stuff on CD's. In regular terms could someone please explain how to do this?I have the two discs that came with the system , I assume are for putting Windows back on it.Thanks to anyone who can help.
hello if they are recovery disks than put the one that says recovery or recovery disk one in cd-rom and reboot computer.when computer restarts it will prompt you what to do. if it is an oem or full installation cd-s you got you will have to format hard drive first, the first thing you need to do is goto start, settings, control panel, add/remove,start up disk, and put a new floppy in floppy drive and make a start up floppy it will tell you when its done.the next thing you need to do is reboot with floppy in the drive still at the a: if your drive with m.e on it is drive c type this format c: /u this will completely waip out any info on that drive. make sure you have corect cd,s to reinstall m.eafter reformating install your first cd.and follow instructions that will come up have your serialno. handy you will most likely need to reinstall it.have a nice day
