I got a new Dell 8100 P4 1.4 Ghz Desktop running WinME, it has a Video Board on it that accepts Firewire cables and I'm trying to use my digital JVC Mini-DV (GR-DVM50U)
camcorder as the video source, but am lacking an appropriate driver for the camera I guess b/c when I try and run Microsoft Movie Maker,
no video capture devices are available. I can't find a driver ANYWHERE (JVC is useless), any ideas? Thanks, JD

According to:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q264/5/98.asp?LN=EN-GB&SD=gn&FR=0
it looks like your camcorder should work. at:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q272/9/41.asp?LN=EN-GB&SD=gn&FR=0
OHCP compliance is discussed.
When I connect my camcorder,( sony trv8000/ basic 1394 card with TI chipset ), it immediately appears in explorer.

I am having the same problem with my DVM70 and JVC is denying any help. I have just sent another email to them to see if they will respond. It does seems odd that other leading products have the drivers supplied with the camcorder. If you find a driver that works, please email me and I will do the same. I work on cruise ships, where people go to the Caribbean and buy electronics-I will pass on the word that JVC doesn't care about customer support!...and to avoid their products!!

This is what JVC is saying about supporting this. If anyone finds something, let me know as well. Thanks!

As we stated the video capture card and video editing software are not JVC
products so we do not offer support for them. JVC software only works
through a serial port, not the firewire/DV connection or a USB port, and we
do offer support for it. If you wish to turn that into us not offering
support then that is your opinion and even though we think you are wrong we
are not going to try to change it.We hope this information is helpful.

I agree with the guy above, I got the card to work and the drivers for the card, but I need the JVC Image driver for the camcorder.
I emailed and got the same results. Please email me if you find the correct driver.
Oh by the way I'm using windows ME as my OS

I agee also that JVC has bad support. I am using a JVC GRDVL300U and I can't find the right drivers for it. The problem is that it doesn't detect my camera. If anyone can help please do it is driving me nuts.

I have the same problem with a JVC GR DVL107.
VideoWavw III doesn't recognise the camera. Thinks it's from Microsoft. I also got the message "no DV controller found".
Please let me know if there's a driver for itThanks
