If the message you get reads: "Cannot find or corrupt Windows Loader" or "Unable to find VMM32.VXD"

Can you use a boot-up floppy to Dos?
from floppy type: c:\windows\command [Press ENTER]
then type:
scanreg /restore [ENTER]
use arrow up/down key select date when PC
was OK [ENTER]
