Need help disabling Automatic Updates

When I click 'Turn off automatic updating, I will update my computer manually' it just refers back to automatically download updates after I click 'OK' .
Is there something thats is keeping Automatic Updating on elsewhere?

yeah,
Microsoft Windows Updates, ie wuauboot.exe, which keeps opening itself up and prevents me from running Disk Docter while open. It won't let me chooose the option to 'Turn off automatic updating, I will update my computer manually' or anything but allowing it to run automatically.

Microsoft Auto Update ie wuauboot.exe is acting like a little devil on my computer. It refuses to be optioned off automatic and will not stay closed. I know its wuauboot.exe causing my Disk Docter to keep restarting because for the short amount of time after a reboot that wuauboot is not running Disk Docter works fine.
