Sorry, Akida - I looked on my system (new Windows ME) and file not found. Is this an operating system component, or does Chkreqs.dll relate to a specific application? John

Hi, got this from here: http://www.ctel.net/~morbus/Cipher/Heroes3/Game_info/game_info.htm Question (3-3-99): I am trying to install Heroes III on my AMD K6II.   After the DirectX installs and I pass through the welcome screen, I get an "Illegal operation error in ins5576" (chkreqs.dll).   How can I get passed this? Answer: This is where the installer checks your system to make sure your system meets the minimum system requirements.   On some AMD K6II machines there is an error in the way the information is queried. The workaround for this is as follows: Launch the Heroes III installer and select Yes or No at the DirectX prompt (it does not matter which is selected). At the welcome screen, minimize the install by selecting the left-most button at the top of the installer window. Click on the "Start" button in Windows. Click on Find (files and folders).   Make sure you are set to look in your C: drive. In the named box type in chkreqs.dll.   Then hit the "Find Now" button. There may be several copies of the same file.   Highlight one and then press Ctrl-A simultaneously to highlight all the files. Use the Delete key on your keyboard to delete all the files.   You will be asked if you're sure you want to delete the files and click "yes."   Close the find box after you delete the files.   To make sure that the files are deleted, empty your recycle bin (if you have Norton Utilities installed make sure you empty your "Norton Protected Recycle Bin" a s well). Switch back to the Heroes III installer and continue as normal. I just did a search in google for the file. You can try the same if it's not what you needed. I also scanned my system for it, but don't have the file. I think it comes with the installation of the game (heroes III). Johan
