Hi guys.....
I 'd like to get some help
I bought NAV with firewall included, great thing i thought, but here some problem started. 1st i did a pre scan with the norton CD which didn't find any virus, then i installed the software i updated it and then i did the full scan of my system....it found an exploit which was deleted it said....
Problems:
1. Since i installed it My pc speed slow down so much, and now looking for a way to improve my speed pc...i'd love any advice

2. after the complete installation i had 2 different icon for Norton internet Security, 1 Icon on my desktop and another 1 in the task bar "bottom and right side" on my Pc.
Now the Icon is on my desktop changed becoming exactly the same Icon of Acrobat reader.....is it because of a virus that Norton couldn't find ?
Is it possible that the virus started to work when i made the pre installion scan with Norton CD? and then when i finished the Norton installation the software was already infected????? any help is appreciated.....thanx guys

Bye, Angelo!!!!!!

If you got NIS2004, it really does slow things down. Back to the exploit. Do you have system restore turned on, if you do, turn if off and restart the computer and then enter the safe mode. Then use Norton to scan for the exploit while in it. If Norton is disabled by the exploit go to

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
and run their on line scan. HTH

Boot your system in to Safe Mode (hold left Ctrl key or F8 key down before the initial Windows ME splash screen) and then on the boot menu select Safe Mode. After it is booted, try running the Disk CleanUp tool, ScanDisk and then Defrag to clean up the disk drive. Then exit out and reboot into normal mode. This should clean up the drive and correct most corrupted Icon problems.

It takes a long time for the Firewall software to boot so your system will be slow until that is done. If you do not have enough memory, then the system will be very slow. With Windows ME you need at least 128MB of RAM, but when you add the full Norton package, you need more than 128MB of RAM or your system will slow down.

I find that even with a lot of RAM the 2004 package slows ME systems down. I would recommend that you use NAV only and Sygate personal firewall which is free. Then there should be no slowdown.
