MYSTERY VIRAL PROBLEM

I wonder if any of you good people could help me. I received an email with an attachment from a known and, I believe trusted source, containing a questionaire. I duly completed the questionaire and saved the result. When it was saved the suffix of the file changed from xxxx.doc to xxxx.doc.LNK. When I attempted to send the email, my virus protection(AVG) alerted me to the presence of a virus and put it in the virus vault. I don't know whether this is a fault with AVG because I have run two online scans and no virus was detected in either. I would certainly welcome your thoughts in this matter.

The Sircam Virus uses this extension, and creates some other files, when it is preparing to send itself out via your E-Mail program. It is possible you do have a new variant on a old virus or the hueristic scanning that AVG misinterpeted this.I would look here(and elsewhere)
for other suspect files in the system to figure out which is the case. Jimi_l

Slim Gordo, since you aren't sure it is a virus...write your 'trusted source' and ask if they really sent it. If not, delete, If so, alter, then send. AVG is trying to help you help you. HTH. Ed in Texas.
