Hello Everyone,
I have an acer aspire which I hadn't used for a few months. I had no trouble with it the last time I used it. When I went to use it, the acer logo comes up and freezes. I don't know when it isn't booting up and am at loss to figure out how I can get it to work. I can get into bios and have the boot sequence A drive with cdrom enabled, another problem, the A drive does not crank up nor does the cdrom. I checked the power connectors to these devices and are plugged in. I am at a loss, as to why the computer is not functioning.I would appreciate your help to get my acer working again,
thanking you in advance for any help you can give me,
frank

If you can get into BIOS, check all the setup options and make sure the diskette 1 1/4 in is enabled. If not, it suggest that your CMOS battary may be weak/low/dead and it can not find all of the hardware correctly. So after checking all the BIOS settings for enabling hardware, you should "Enable" the Reset of System Configuration Data (DMI) in the PnP/PCI Configuration section of the CMOS Setup. Be sure to save any changes and exit.

Hello JackG,
Thank you for your help, I have a boot disk and thw wme os cd, I tried to reload the os in the computer, no luck there. The time on the computer is correct, the battery seems to be ok. I will enable the dmi in the pci config sector. I would like to get past the wme logo and get to system restore and shift the computer back a notch to see if this will also correct the freezing of the comp,
thank you frank

Hello again JackG,
I have the dmi on enable, I get the same results. When the computer is working normally the acer log flashes four time before it activates and then the windows me logo comes up, here I am getting the acer logo flashing once and then it freezes on screen. I hear a click as if it is going to boot up, but, it doesn't
