Hi all.
About ever 6 or 8 boots my sound gets stuck on some sound file as I boot up, and it starts to click very fast in rapid succession sounding like a machine gun that never runs out of Ammo.
(Don't tell George Bush as he will want to include it into his peace keeping plan for Iraq)
The only way that I can stop this is to shut down and reboot.
I have upgraded the driver for my media card but it still persists. I do not know which wav file is causing the problem, or if it is caused by the same file or not each time.
I can not replicate the fault at will.
Any ideas?
Regards

Try changing the sound you have assigned to the "open program" in the control panel, under Sounds and MultiMedia , on my system and I believe the default sound assigned is ding.wav or the sound for "start Windows" ,once you have changed the .wav sound used ,if the problem persists ,then you will know its not due to a piticular corrupt.wav file ? Then I would check your sourd card driver, perhaps update if ones available ? Also in Windows Help ,there is a sound trouble shooter, that may help find the prob.
Good Luck Nick

Good advice from above - also, believe it or not, this can be caused by the DMA on your hard drives not being properly set. If the above doesn't cure it, have a look at point 5 on the homepage link on this response. Sure, while you're there, have a look at all the points :)

Hi all.
I have custom sound assigned to various events, and the 'machine gun' fires up as windows load up not just at the start .wav file.
But I will try a standard sound set up and see how I go. The problem is that not only have I used sounds downloaded from the net, but my sound effect setup also includes randomly chosen Windows .wav files and it could be one of them also.
I will checkout the homepage as suggested when I get my tower back from the shop.
Regards
