Comment:

Last Saturday I had English Windows Me reinstalled and I yesterday discovered when using Steve Gibson's IP Agent stealth scan two IP addresses.

Since I use a dialup connection to my ISP - this add changes everytime I dialup. The other is
2.0.0.0 - stays the same. Should I worry about this and can I get rid of the last one - or should I just leave it. Last question is what good is it? Using notebook P3 1G/256/20GB fyi.
Thanks.

Its called a Dynamic IP address, it means that everytime you access you ISP server it gves you a different IP address.

Yes, I dig that. My dialup gives a different one each time, but where did the other one
2.0.0.0 come from - and so far seems to be permanent. Hence two IPs.

Could it be your local network address?

It's the IP of your ISP

To see the IP number go to Start / Run / winipcfg /ok

You can set a static IP number for your system. I am not sure how it is done. Maybe the 2.0.0.0 has something to do with it.

Thank you kindly all for yr replies. Two independent trojan and virus checks have indicated no trojans/virus. I used both Swat it and Ants 2 for these checks and am now checking out all the other possibilities mentioned in all posts.

Message 5 intrigues me though - what on earth would my my ISP IP be doing on my PC - and 6 could also be a bet - it most definitely is my static IP right now and Sygate Security Scan (free online) just shows my dialup IP, not the static 2.0.0.0

Everything appears to functioning well and Steve Gibson Leaktest test indicates no leaks to the "outside" and my ZoneAlarm shows no alerts that are abnormal or peculiar to my everyday usage.

Thanks again, everyone for your help.
