Reply: (edit)Get TweakUI. It allows you to select which special icons (My Network Places, Recycle Bin, Internet Explorer, etc.) exist on the desktop. Download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp Run the setup and it will put a new icon in your control panel. When you run it, lok for the "Desktop" tab and un-select the My Network Places box.
