MY NETWORK PLACES

Hi,
yea I have a hp xl768 and when I installed it i deleted the MY NETWORK PLACES because i though it was a waste of space (i like to keep my desktop clean) and I never thought i was going to do networking. now that i need networking and i dont want to install windows ME again because i just downloaded all the new drivers for everything, how can i get that MY NETWORK PLACES back on the desktop?

You can access the network icon in the control panel.
In the primary Network Logon drop down menu set it to Client for Microsoft Networks. If this is not a choice, add it via the Add>>Client>>Add buttons.
Click apply>>ok and reboot.
You should have My Network Places back on the desktop.
... unless you used some sort of freeware/shareware program to delete it from your desktop. If you did this let us know which one.

The same exact thing happen to me I was just fooling around with the My Network Places Icon and it disappeared ? I found it in the control panel , however the Client for Microsoft option is not there. There are 2 other options.I did a system restore and got the icon back on my desk top . The next day when I booted up my anti-virus went crazy. So I had to restore again, lost the My Network Places Icon again.
Summary: I am using a Windows Me box but the network operating system is NT, so I would like to know on the desktop there is an icon called IN MY NETWORK PLACES so I think that should be NETWORK NEIGHBOURHOOD ...
