Restart, tap F8, see if you can get into safe mode and reset the resolution.
Have you ruled other things that may have coincidently gone wrong (monitor cable came loose, monitor power?) sounds crazy but I've been there.
Have you tried restarting with the boot disk? Does the monitor work then?
It sounds like you have more than one computer, swap monitors, get things back to where they were if possible.
Tim

your monitor might not support the highest resolution of your video card... try to set it one step lower
Regards Miro

always start at the wall outlet and work your way over to the driver list .....this same thing happened to me. do what tim said it works, amd miro is correct also.

Can you tell if Windows is loading, by listening to the hard drive. If windows is loading, its the monitor, if windows isn't loading, then it is probably the Video Card is not in the slot securely or your cable from the monitor is not inserted completely (I have had this happen, while messing around with other things). I would say begin with the monitor problems, if you have a black screen from the moment you turn your computer on. Otherwise, it is the resolution you set your video to and the F8 safemode should get you back to the properties to reset it were it should be. Does your light on the front of your monitor show that your monitor is getting electricity? Is this monitor a Mag Innovision? My old mag did that when it decided to go bad. If I ever turned it off, it would take 30 minutes before I could see the screen, however, I could listen and tell windows was loading and did completely load.
If you don't hear windows load, then it probably isn't the monitor, could be the video card (if the screen is blank from start to finish, but does not sound like windows is actually loading). In otherwords, your computer, will boot even if the monitor is not connected to it.... you just can't see it. It won't usually do anything if the video card is not making a connection with the slot it is inserted in and it can not usually boot to windows or anything for that matter. I probably made this too long, but feel free to email me if you think I might can help you.Ms. Dale King
