There are times when I fully understand computers, then I roll out of bed and relise it's just a dream. On my presonal computer my mic worked fine for several days. My sister started useing it and she says quote "It just stopped working."

Now I'm not compleatly stupid and relize she most likely did something because it was working just fine, now it's not. AIM says something about it cannot connect because of the firewall, or the NAT, or the security settings. My firewall is set to allow voice conversations and I don't bloody have a NAT. I need help I've tried everything for the mic and it won't work. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Start by running a full anti-v & spyware scan. And install CCleaner & use it to "take out the trash"

Well thanks for the help and I did do all of that...hence why it took me so long to reply.

I tested it out last night and the Mic worked fine. It kept cutting out but never quit fully. The weird thing is the anti-virius didn't catch anything, the anti-spywear never found anything. The defrag took about 5 mins and the scan disk (aside from me forgetting my screen saver) was done almost as soon as it started.

So thanks for the advice I wish I knew why it got broken but it's going to be a question for the ages.

did you do the following when you put the mic in back of your hard drive ??

go to control panel
click on SOUNDS AND MULTIMEDIA icon (looks like a speaker)

then click the VOICE tab
make sure the selected voice playback and the voice capture are the same

then try the voice test
