Lately my comp will just randomly shut off whenever im playing a game or something. It seems like every time its totally random. One time it even shut off when i was checking my email. It seems like every other day it starts shutting off more and more. I reformatted my harddrive but 2 months later its doing the same thing again. I have a 300 watt power supply, and a geforce 4 ti 4200 128 mb video card. Somebody help!!! This really scares the hell out of me. Im just sitting at my comp then all of a sudden BOOM! it turns off.

Royce Kirk, SWAG, two things jump to mind. First, SLEEP, is it possible that you have your machine SET to go to sleep?
Second perhaps there us a power supply problem and when some component gets hot enough, the whole thing shuts down. Dunno just how to troubleshoot short of perhaps substituting a friend's just to see???
HTH.

I've seen that you've gotten a couple responses from others but thought I would explain another possibilty. My pc shut off at random even when I wasn't playing a game. Peculiar as it may sound my pc would shut off and then immediately start itself up again on its own and then kept repeating until I finally just pulled the electrical plug out of the wall socket. While nearly running out of potential solutions, as a last resort, I replaced the on/off power switch that turned my computer off and on and as luck would have it, it solved the problem. No problem ever since. You might check to see if this works for you. Good luck and hope you get it running properly.
