Comment: I upgraded Windows 98 SE with Windows ME upgrade and now my CD-ROMs don't have drive letters. I have a Creative Labs CDRW4224 and an NEC 282 32x. I tried everything I can think of. I can see the drives in Device Manager but neither of them have a Current Drive Letter and when I try to reserve drive letters for them, the Reserve Drive Letter boxes are blank. What is going on here. I can still burn CDs. I found that out when my little brother just popped a cd in and started burning songs on it without knowing of the problem I was having. PLEEEZ HELP ME!!!

Reply: (edit) I overcame a problem similar to that by removing the device in device manager and letting Windows ME roboot and discover the hardware over again.

Reply: (edit)be sure that the cd-rom drivers are not pretending to use the autoexec.bat and config.sys. if there are modification on both files, then it is necesary verify that the msconfig's content have been correctly asigned. ...
