I installed windows me on 2 laptops. A Sony Vaio, which used to work fine, and a Dell Inspiron 8000, which had windows 2000 nt on it. My music is skipping like crazy! Tech support, for the music program I use, told me I should get older drivers. VXD instead of WMD (something like that). On the Dell site, I only see drivers for Windows Me and 2000. There arent any old drivers for 95 or 98. This is from the Dell site:
Audio: ESS Maestro 3i (Audio Only) Driver, Windows 2000, Multi Language, Inspiron 8000, Latitude C800, v. 5.12.01.1096 M3i, A04
ESS Maestro 3i Audio Driveror this (what I use):
Audio: ESS Maestro 3i (Audio Only) Driver, Windows Me, Multi Language, Inspiron 8000, Latitude C800, v. 5.12.01.1096 M3i, A02
ESS Maestro 3i Audio Driver version A02 for Windows Me [ESS 5.12.01.1096.M3i]Anyone know how to solve this problem? I alresdy messed with the graphics acceleration and read ahead optimization. It had no effect. (that helped with other music glitch and sync issues in the past)
Drivers, please?
Thanks!

what music player are you using? WMP7 is stalling on my computers also.. it is a piece of cr*p... winamp and maximus CD are working good.. even on my windowsME computer. Ii is ME problem, not the players.
Regards Miro

I had the same problem on a Inspiron 8000 laptop / Win2K. The problem was that the NIC card had a configuration under network properties for "cable detect". I checked this option off, and now the sound is great!
