Hi,
I am running a 900mhz 256mb laptop with WinME on it. I have noticed that when I look at my running processes in the memory, it shows two instances of rundll32.exe.....I don't think this is correct. But I am not sure. I also notice that my computer is hovering at 75% cpu usage when idle...yet it doesn't seem to lag? Any ideas or thoughts?
Thanks

Having a RunDll32.exe left running in memory is a sign of some sort of software problem. It indicates the function called in some DLL module has not completed, so the function is in effect hung.
First reboot the system and check if the Rundll32's shows up before you start any programs. This will tell you if its from one of the startup programs or drivers or if its from some application you have started.
For example, in the normal Windows ME StartUp, RunDll32.exe is used in two places to call a DLL function "LoadCurrentPowerScheme" in the powrprof.dll module. If there is a problem with the systems BIOS setup for power management or a problem with windows memory management at that point, these calls can get hung and remain in the active running processes list. Often when this happens, there are problems shutting down the system.
I have a problem with this happening at random when bootint the system. Have never been able to find the cause, but I know to just reboot then because the system performance will degrade due to some sort of Windows ME memory management problem if I don't.
Your problem could also be caused by conflicting programs (often hidden) such as Spyware/Adware that might be on your system. Hope this helps you get started tracking down the problem.

hello
try running ad-ware and see if one of them are spy ware you can get ad-ware free at www.download.com
have a nice day
