I recently downloaded updates. Now when I try and open OE, it says the Msoe.DLL file is not loaded. What did I do? and how can I fix this? Updates were from Microsoft and one I recall was a OE 6? Thank you.

I have Msoe.DLL and it's in......
C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESSYou could try searching your PC for this file and copying it into it's rightful place.
If that does not work, as a last resort, you can try SYSTEM RESTORE. That's a feature in Win ME that allows you to put things back as they were before something got messed up.
START - PROGRAMS - ACCESSORIES - SYSTEM TOOLS - SYSTEM RESTORE. Pick a date before the mess up & don't mess about with the PC while it's restoring.
See what others say on this before you try to restore the PC.

Those are good, but it's odds on that's the file (msoe.dll) that's already corrupt.
You could download a copy of msoe.dll off the net, but if your on OE6, you would need the right msoe.dll, you could end up with OE 5.5's msoe.dll and that's no good. Same goes for trying someone elses (Micheal2).
I know what I'd do after though (tell ya in a minute). Especially if restore doesn't work.
I'd pick the bones out of these MSKB articles, there are a few avenues to try:
MSKB 245419 - OLEXP: You Receive an Error Message or Are Unable to Start Outlook Express
Failing any and all of that, I'd try going into Windows setup and getting rid of (uncheck) Outlook Express in their and rebooting. Then I'd go back in Windows setup and put the check mark back next to Outlook Express and reboot again.
That should leave you with a generic Outlook Express 5.5 (whatever), I'd then go to Windows update and get me a clean version of OE6 (whatever it is now).
Violins - violas and voila ! -- That's the theory anyway, fact is often stranger than fiction though. 8^\

Thank you for all your help - however, when I went into Windows Setup, there is no Outlook Express named. I think I really 'screwed' something up - am about ready to toss this out the 'winder'. Help!!

If you haven't comp[leted your other post a few doors down then this is the least of your problems. I suggest you answer the questions on that one first before you proceed with this.
People can write all the solutions down in the world, but if you don't execute them all and post back with outcomes then it's all pointless -- You might as well format the machine and start over.
Saves wasting our time and yours.

Thanks for your help - got my OE back - sorry for the confusion - ran all that you suggested - hopefully I'll be OK for awhile. Thanks, again.
