MSN Messenger won't work!

I have the .NET MSN Messenger but it won't let me sign in. I am running windows ME. I can sign in to my hotmail account but not my MSN Messenger.

try to upgrade our internet explorer and msn messenger. and also allow cookies and microsoft directx files to access.
