Why does the program NOT let you un-intall it completely? There should be a law against that! I had it on my machine once, and it took me awhile to get everything off since most of the deleting was done in the registry. It seems that "Messenger" gets deeply embedded in your system. I am not even sure I got it all out, but can't find anymore traces of it. I now use AOL Instant Messenger, a stand alone product from AOL. I do not use AOL as my browser or ISP. It's great, I don't use it a lot, and is out of the way when not in use. MSN Messenger was all over the place. Tool bars on IE6, in my Word and Office programs.
Good luck.
