help i cant get on to the windows update page, it says lexplorehas caused an error in mshtml.dll,
the computer will now close,,thanks

If you don't have IE6,try a repair of IE via Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs, choose to delete then repair.
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 194177 - Description of the Internet Explorer Repair Tool

in the add /remove window,
ie5.5 or ie 6 are not shown,
as recently had problems with ie 6 ,i managed to download to 5.5 but it looks like 5.5 did,nt actually competly download ,maybe thats why i am getting this error, ialso made an attempt to re dowload ie6 ,but the instalation always stops at 73%and wont go any further ihve now managed to download the dll. mshtml from another site but how do l get it into the system
sorry for rambling on .
george

Hi George, The Kid, hi everyone,
Copy and paste the file into the Windows\System folder.
I also just read that Gator, scumware, can also cause the problem.
I recommend you download and run Spybot
Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi everyone,
Did you download and run Spybot to see if Gator was the culprit?
Here is another suggestion:
• Start Internet Explorer
• Select Tools, and Options
• Click on Accessibility
• Uncheck the box next to Format document using my style sheet.
• Click the OK button.
• Click on OK again.
• Click on Start and Run.
• Type regsvr32.exe /i mshtml.dll
• Click on OK.
• Click on OK again and restart the computer.
Good Day!
Mesich

yes have spybot cant find gator ,
did the above says regsvr32.exe not found-
when i try to do downloads related to microsoft i get access fobidden things seem to be getting worse ,george

Hi again everyone,
George,
Check in C:\Windows\System and ensure that regsvr32.exe is located there.
Best Regards,
Mesich

its not there,
sorry,
george,
i checked my reg cleaner, its not there,
but the mshtml.dll.
is registerd,
i am getting confused,

Hi George, hello everyone,
Well that explains the error you are receiving when trying to register the .dll file. I shall have to hunt up my WinME disk in order to send you the file, unless someone else is still following this thread or you have the WinME cd yourself.
I'll get to looking and check back also very soon.
Best Regards,
Mesich
