after booting the system seems to run ok. Then after maybe 1/2 hour the system locks and when I ctrl+alt+del the msgsrv32 is always the problem. I've removed everything on startup through changing msconfig, but the problem persists. Yes I have done a hardrive format and clean reload. Any ideas.
Thanks

Bloody thing locks up my sys reliably when task switching tween ms apps and browser.
please update me if solution found or any ideas. I do not want to hack registry or ini's to remove a problem cause only to have it create more ........ linux is looking better daily

Mine is also doing this...does anyone have a piece of hardware that doesnt run in win ME.On my system I have a HP 4100c scanner that wont work because software is not compatible with ME. I have the software installed and I beleive msgsrv32 is trying to load the software, but it can therefore causing msgrv32 to lock up....Please let me know if you figure it out.

Msgsrv32 is a windows 32-bit message server program while cm8330sb.drv is my sound card driver. Please let me know if you have a fix.

Ditto! on all of the above! Mine seems to be having a problem with Mcafee Vshield, ALSO! Did anyone get any answers? Have had nothing but trouble with my new Hewlette Packard and "Windows Me". I am now back on my "OLD" Packard Bell and running fine? but only with a connection of 14400 bps and 200 MB of hard drive? Now that's a laugh isn't it? Any help would be appreciated?

Hello,

I too have been getting the same type of errors for quite sometime now. Mostly with Msgsrv32 and gdi.exe. Also, user.exe may be involved at times. (When using .. various programs.)

I Have been looking for way to fix this problem, but have had no luck in doing so.

I have been told in the past, that this is a video problem and to get new / latest drivers for my vid-card. I did so and it didn't help.

I have tried replacing the files with fresh copies and it didn't help.

I'm beginning to think there isn't a fix (Or so to speak,) and that we may need newer versions of these files or newer versions of the programs that are not working right or together with the said files ... (gdi.exe, msgsrv32, user.exe and whatever program or programs we are using when we get the error.)

The error may happen differently on various computers, but getting msgsrv32 errors are common.

If they are not available or updated, we may be stuck with the problem. IMHO Only.

Krom
