I use ME O/S, Celeron 700,w/384mb ram.,MS-Works, MS-Office2000 Professional, Norton SystemWorks 2002. When I click MS-WORD in any program, Letter, Document, or at the Startup List I get these error messages:
"Winword has caused an error in
WINWORD.EXE.
Winword will now close.
If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer."I click the (Close) box in this Winword error window, then another Winword error window appears. It reads.
"Winword has caused an error in DIMM.DLL.
Winword will now close.
If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer."I click the (Close) box in this error message window, then I return to where I started.
I have Repair from the Programs CD, uninstalled and reinstalled MS Office Professional and MS Works, in everyway I know how sereral times. I have uninstalled Norton SystemWorks and all anti-virus programs before Reinstalling MS-WORD Programs. I've tried eveything, But still no MS-Word. All the other MS-Office & MS-works Programs work just fine. PLEASE HELP. Thank You! Jim Slim

Here's something to try.
Open the registry using Regedit.exe. Drill down to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0].
Delete the key "word" and close the registry editor. Now restart Word from the start menu.

Thanks gregoryglen; I did as you said. Now I can start WORD, but when I click on File or Tools on the tool bar I get the Winword error message:
"Winword has caused an error in
WINWORD.EXE.
Winword will now close. If you continue to experience Problems,
try restarting your computer."I click the (Close) box in the error window, WORD closes completely with no other error messages.
I deleted WORD In the registry as you said and tried Reinstalling Office Pro., Repair Office, etc., Nothing I do helps. If you or anyone has other Ideas that could help me get WORD working properly I would VERY APPRECITIVE!!!
Thanks;
Jim Slim

Locate the file normal.dot and delete it. Restart Word and The normal.dot file will be recreated. Hope this helps.
