MS Office won't install

Hi! Here's the deal: I put the (ORIGINAL!) MS Office 97 CD in the CD-ROM and the autoplay starts. I choose install MS Office 97 and the Install Wizard starts to initialize. Then a window pops up saying: "The installation of MS Office 97 was not completed succesfully". This wouldn't even be a problem if it could tell me WHY it didn't install! My respect for Microsoft is slowly fading away...
