Hello Derek.I signed on to advise the group of this development and saw your posting. After downloading latest update KB891711 has disappeared from my running programmes accessed via ctrl/alt/delete but not as a programme in Control Panel. As (luckily) the original installation did not cause an issue with my system I followed group advice and left well alone and intend to do the same this time. The situation is out of line with normal Microsoft practice and I would welcome group thinking as to why Microsoft have behaved in the way they have with this patch

The fact that this update is a running process is simply the way that it works. Only MS know the technicalities behind this but provided it causes no problem it's fine.
I would have thought it adviseable for folk to use this new update rather than the old one even if things are going well. My reasoning is that the old update is liable to interact badly with some program or other at any time.
