When trying to play an mp3 file from mp3.com, the song will play while downloading (about 5-10 seconds) then it stops when the whole file is complete. I can't figure out why.

You should not try to play it as it is downloading. Your connection is not fast enough and besides, this only saves it to a temporary folder. Always right click and choose "Save Target As" to download the file, rather than just clicking on it.

connection IS fast enough - i do it all the time at work. that's what you do at mp3.com. click on it, and listen. Most songs you can't save.

Well you can save the songs, depends what media player you are using. If you are using version 6.4, then once its finished downloading and you are listening at same time, click on file save as then save the file. Newer media players don't support this feature. Actually i think 6.4 is the best version, its quick and easier to use.
Anyway try that and see if u can save then! If you don't have 6.4 then download it, try microsoft.com.

You CAN NOT save alot of MP3.com songs to your computer unless you've paid for them or unless that's how those songs are set up. All you have to do is click on them and they will play, but you can't save them. So my question remains - why do the songs only play while in the process of downloading (about 5 - 7 seconds depending on size)and then stop when the download is complete?

You are a moron, mate. If You Have a modem, then ur connection IS NOT fast enough, ok?! If you want to save Mp3's, I suggest you get a peer 2 peer sharing program such as KaZaA or WinMX, and download the songs from there. That way ur moronic ass can listen to them over and over until ur head explodes. The bare fact that u even visited Mp3.com shows u hav little to no computer experience what-so-ever, so u should listen to other people's help!
