I have a custom-built PC from a local vendor. Since Windows ME was OEM-installed, I cannot get Microsoft to help me. My local vendor never answers my calls. I was hoping someone could help me with my problem.
I cannot use my mouse in Safe Mode. The arrow pointer appears on the screen, but I cannot move the mouse, and clicking it does nothing. I tried to fix this by installing Release 4.01 of the Intellipoint software. Didn't help. I suspect a driver conflict may be causing this, but don't know how to check it out and fix it. (Please, no changes to the registry! I have enough problems right now. Thanks!)
My system environment:
AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.33Ghz CPU
ASUS A7A266 DDR Mobo with 266Mhz FSB.
256MB PC2100 266Mhz DDR SDRAM.
Award Medallion BIOS v6.0
Windows ME (OEM CD and COA).
40GB Maxtor 7200 RPM Ultra ATA 100 hard drive.
1.44 MB Mitsumi floppy drive
50X CD-ROM drive.
12x/8x/32x Acer CD-Rewriteable drive.
Iomega Zip250 internal ATAPI IDE drive.
32MB Visiontek Nvidia TNT GeForce2 AGP video card.
Creative SoundBlaster Live! Value PCI audio card.
17" SVGA Scanport GEM .26 dpi monitor.

Sounds like the mouse may be a USB mouse. In safe mode the drivers for the USB port are not loaded, hence no mouse. When you need to enter safe mode you will need to hook up a PS/2 or a serial mouse.

OOPS! I meant to state that I am using a PS/2 "Microsoft IntelliMouse Pro" mouse.
I know about the USB problems with Windows ME. Since I have a PS/2 mouse, I can't seem to figure this one out! Thanks!
