I'm using Microsoft ME. My mouse is serial port. Every 10 mins the mouse cursor will hang there for a few seconds. The type of mouse i'm using is Genius NetScroll+Serial which only supports 95/98,NT. I have brought it about 3 yrs ago. I'm really frustrated with it when i'm doing my homework. Anyone Please HELP!!!!! Thanks!!!

Do other devices work in the Serial port?
If you plug the mouse into a PS/2 port does the problem continue?

Every 10 minutes, your mouse slows down or stops for five to 10 second? Sounds more like PCHealth or one of the many other tasks running in the background and having trouble. Actually this is normal with Windows ME about 10 minutes after you start the system and every six hours after that. But doing it every 10 minutes is a problem. Try this:
(Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Scheduled Tasks)
Right click PCHealth icon and Delete it.If this solves your problem then you know its the problem. This icon should come back when you reboot the system (and most likely the problem too).
But if this works as a quick test to get rid of the problem, then post back and we can tell you how to clean up the corrupted files or get rid of PCHealth all together. It is not needed. It could also be several other things if this only occurs if you are connected to the Internet.

It stops there for every 10 mins.
Thanks JackG!!! It works!!!
Everyone thanks for answering my question.

Ok, glad that seems to be the problem. This indicates that the files in the directory at \Windows\PCHealth\HelpCTR\Datacoll\ have been corrupted. All files in this directroy can safely be deleted (they are useless).
To delete them you must get out your Windows ME recovery diskette and use it to boot the system. Then using DOS command, delete all the files in this directory.
DEL C:\Windows\PCHealth\HelpCTR\DATACOLL\*.*
You can also use the next version of DELINDEX.BAT (by RM) that should be available next month. Check this forum then for it.
