Mouse problem or mouse driver??

This mouse is insensitive, has a mind of its own. It needs several drags to get it to where it needs to go. Have mouse drivers in ME been an issue, or is this more likely a mouse problem? (Computer: new Compaq Presario MV540.) Thanks d

try speeding up the cursor start-settings-control panel-mouse -motion or could be listed elsewhere, set acceleration to high and set the speed bar to the right. if that doesn't help, try a different driver for it like the one for 1st mouse plus from http://www.logitech.com the driver/software adds more features and works with most mice.

Did you try to clean your mouse ball? Or try another mouse pad?
Clean not only the mouse ball, but also the rollers inside the mouse. A very thin coating of lint or dust builds up and gives a very slick surface that will not give a smooth movement. The roller will not look clean and shiney.

There comes a time Doghead when you just have to buy a new mouse as I did, I'd had mine for some years, and no amount of cleaning would let it run smooth, how long have you had yours maybe?

ah, if you do need a new mouse my suggestion is something, anything from Logitech. They truly are the best. Try either a Trackman (when you get used to rolling the ball with you fingers, it is an INCREDIBLE mouse) or try for an optical mouse (by Logitech)
