I re-installed WinME on my Dell Pent4,and during the install the mouse froze, and doesn't function. I'm able to use the cursor arrows on keyboard. I went to control panel and mouse, and went through the driver search but it said my driver was correct Logitech P/S 2. Did say there is problem with mouse (not connected, or not functioning, or needs driver).
What should I do to fix this problem?
Thanks!

Go into Safe Mode on boot up (press CTRL key) and then remove the mouse driver. Re-boot normally and this should force Windows ME to recognise the mouse.
Good luck.

Thanks for the note. I tried Ctrl key but nothing happened. I have F2 key and this pull up a list of computer functions, one of which I believe was IRL. Anyway, I was able to togle the mouse port to on or off. I tried rebooting both ways but no luck.
Some additional info:
My logitech mouse connects via USB port.
I noticed in Control Panel --> Logitech that it says the port is unknown with the Logitech mouse. I can see on my hard drive that the logitech software appears to be there. Anyway, my PC also has a PS2 mouse port (round, pins) so I connected an old mouse and rebooted. It worked! Also, in Control Panel --> Logitech, it says port is P/S 2. When I swith mouses, then unknown port is listed again. So, maybe problem is the USB port is not recognized.
Any more suggestions?

I was able to get into safe mode and found the USB mouse worked fine. In control panel -> mouse the port still was unknown. Port correctly recognizes PS2 mouse when I reboot or go into safe mode. The load driver button is inactive in both regular and safe mode.
What should I try next?
