On two different computers with WinME installed, my mice behaves erratically when I turn up the speed on the mouse from normal to 1 notch.
Example: If I move my mouse from left to right fairly fast, my mouse-cursor will move in the opposite direction. I use default WinME mouse-drivers, and I have tried with my original mous-drivers from Logitech without any results.

I had the same problem. I had to switch from my scrolling mouse to a standard mouse and switch from the serial port to ps2. I tried several setting to make it work properly, but gave up.

i had the same problem also. i was playing with the mouse speed settings and had the exact same strangeness.
by playing with the "Accelerate" setting that is in the Control Panel > Mouse > Pointer Options window my mouse went wacky. i reinstalled the default ps2 windows ME drivers and that seemed to fix it.

The same as you. I have tried several mouses (logitech serial, ps/2, usb; genius serialm ps/2) in several computers (P-III, K6-2) with differents graphics cards (GeForce, S3/Dx) and all is the same.
With the original drivers from ME in the medium position os the speed bar, mouse goes OK. But when you try to speed it up it begins to "rebound" as I name this strange behaviour.
And with the drivers from logitech (and I have the latest that are done for ME as it is said by logitech: Mouseware 9.19) the "rebounds" are continuous in every speed and acceleration sattings. The only thing I can do is to move the mouse slowly.
And the worst of all is that in the Microsoft Web there is nothing about these problems. I think this is a very important bug in ME, don't you?

Microsoft has this problem listed in their knowledgebase (KB item Q267139). It says they 'know' about it but there is no mention of a fix or even that they are working on it. As usual, they suck.

I have the same problem with rebounds at higher mouse movement speed (Logitech Pilot Mouse srial). I have installed the MouseWare 9.24b80eng and it doesn't fix the bug (even though Logitech says it's MouseWare especially for ME). I thought that maybe I should install the MouseWare drivers manually because the Mouseware setup didn't do it but it still does no good. I then tried to make my mouse work with different drivers like standard serial mouse and such but it doesn't work either. If anyone has a clue how to fix it then please help.

I had the same problem too, and i'm sure it started after i installed win me.
i have tried several different mice on two computers (both win me, one in english one in chinese) with the same results. i have also noticed that most people with this problem have one thing in common:Logitech Mouse Drivers
remove them!
and wait until MS provides a fix... (if ever?)
I do still love logitech though~

i sure am glad this happened to someone else too... I had a hard time figuring out how to explain what was happening when i talked to the customer support guy~
but i guess only we will ever really know what "mouse behaving eratically" , and "rebounding" truly means!

Well, add me to this "me too" list as well. I have a twist to throw in though... my logitech mouseman wheel worked fine in ME on a p2 350 system. Since I upgraded to a 1 Ghz AMD Thunderbird, I've had nothing but problems. How about you all? Is it possible that we are all running AMD cpu's? Or at least those of us who are having these mouse problems?

NopeŽIŽm running an Intel CPU. This problem is a bit strange, most people with optical mice and win me have it, but there are several who havenŽt..
the newest logitech software fixed it @ my frieds pc, now the mouse workes correctly..
but i have the MS optical, and cant fix it.
also the newest intelli point 3.2 is big s---, i tried my mouse under Win98se and it worked with intelli 3.1.. than i tried it with 3.2 and the mouse jumps around
If annyone has a solution, except slowing down the mouse, email me please
