Monitor Shut off

I formatted a few hours ago and got my comp back up and running and it was going fast as anything. A few minutes ago I was just sitting here listening to music and surfing when my monitor just shuts off. It was still getting power but the green button on the monitor turned yellow and the screen went black. What the hell happened?

start/settings/control panel/power options
Use the drop down box to change the Turn off monitor box to Never.
