monitor only allows 16 colors?

hello, i connected a amd k6 500mgz computer to a compaq v75 monitor..then i installed windows me..the onboard video is only letting the monitor get 16 colors...i downloaded the latest drivers from compaq..but still no luck...any help would be appreciated....pete

It's not your monitor you need a driver for the graphics card.

if you've installed the video drivers, for the onboard video,and a monitor driver, it can also be the settings in bios setup, set the onboard video to use more ram,then save settings and exit.

i had to dump my puter and when i restored windows ME i was only given the option of having 16 colors.. i saw the messege about it being in the BIOS set up.. could you please maybe help me and give me more info on how to change that? maybe a walk thru? thank you
