Hello, I had a problem with my machine slowing
down without adding any additional software
to my computer. The company suggested that I
should restore the software programs with my
CD that came with my machine, which is Windows ME.
I followed the directions in my guide, and
had no problems in re-loading the software
into my machine. The problem came up when
I re-booted my machine. When the system
boots up, I wee the "eMachine logo" then the
Windows ME logo, and then a few seconds later
my monitor goes blank. It seems to go into a
sleep mode. I have tried re-loading the
software again, I have checked all cables to
make sure they are tight and secure, I have
even tried another keyboard. The monitor
was working properly until I reloaded
the software. Do you have any suggestions
as to what I need to try or know what I did wrong.

You probably have a problem with your video drivers. What is happening is that your video card is set at a resolution or refresh rate not supported by your monitor.

Boot into safe mode and switch your video card to standard VGA and then reboot. Once you are back into regular windows, load the proper drivers for your monitor and video card. Hopefully they came with your computer.

As your computer boots before windows starts to load, press F8. If you do it too early or late, it won't work.
