I have a Netcomm 56K modem but WinMe will only read it as a Win Lucent modem even after a hard drive format. I cannot connect to the 'net at anything over 28 000bps.

My mouse pointer was working fine on ME, until I upgraded to XP (Clean install). Now every time the modem begins to dial the pointer freezes. If I go back to ME it is working fine. Please advise.
