I'm trying to help a friend here, so bear with me as all I have are little bits of info. This is what I got from him:
"Cannot log into NetZero! The modem dials ok, but when it goes to verify name and password it bums out and start dialing another number starting the same process all over again"
It's a Compaq 500MHz, 10GB HDD running Me, 64MB PC133...
Anyway, I checked with him and the line is ok, no line noise or busy signals. He even tried with plugging into the main phone line. No question marks in device manager and all diagnostics check out ok...
I asked him to call NetZero but he says they charge for customer support. So I'm just trying to help him here.

Thanks in advance for your help.

i am novice, so if this is too simple to be of help i apologize. have you tried to remove the hardware from device manager and restart to let windows find it. or have you checked the settings of where the modem dials to, (is there a call forwarding issue).
Again, if you have already tried these and are saying "duh!" sorry.
