Restart your computer.Right-click on your My Computer icon and then left-click on Properties, and then left-click on Performance. If your System Resources Free are lower than 80%, that could be the entire reason your system is freezing up from time to time. What you will need to do then is Close out of that and CLick Start and then Run and then MSCONFIG. Once the System Configuration Utility comes up click on the STartup Tab that is over on the right. Write down all of the files that show up and post a message on here asking what files you can uncheck.
***the MMtask.tsk is probably from Music Match Jukebox part of which is probably loading up on startup and definitely CAN BE unchecked from Startup, the filename under there is mmtray***

mmtask.tsk is a windows system file, a 16 bit driver for
midi amd wavew files like those annoying tunes that play over and over in dos games.

if you dont play dos games or 16 bit midis and waves there is no need for it to load

My msconfig file says mmtask.tsk isn't loading at startup and yet the Dr Watson diagnosis still says to exit from the .tsk file. How is this done??

Having the same problem! uses lot of memory and distorts playback - mmtask.tsk -unable to delete or rename as file is being used by windows - my problem is with the ME Media Player -when the visualisation button is in use - uncheck this button in the 'now play'
and the replay is OK in the CD Audio
