Thanx in advance for any assistance on this dilemma. After installing a program recently, I noticed I could no longer hear the usual ding wav when adjusting the volume setting on the task bar. The Default Ding has disappeared from the Windows Sound events list in the Sound dialogue box. Is there any way of recreating or restoring this event? I've been on several different forums & no one seems to have any idea.

hi, you could try...start, run, type in msconfig, then select extract file, and choose browse, install your me disk and look for the win sounds file and extract it to your windows file. that might do it, ive used that to restore files ive lost.
