When i sart the computer the message shows WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32.VXD missing or corrupted and type the exact loader. But when i try to format c: it shows insuffciant memory after performing clusters checking only 40% and stops. Then i try to delete c: drive throgh FDISK,i could not indentify the name of volume label. it is shows different key strokes. infact i try to install windows m.e the scanning is done only 10 % and shows errors in c: and it does not fix the error. Kindly help me out of these.

The volume label for the hard drive is found using fdisk and choosing the option to read the information about the partition(s)(often a choice number 4).If you want to fix errors on your drive, you need to do it from the dos prompt.Copy scandisk to your boot disk.Choose your options like surface scan, verbose to explain the results etc. Find the actions you want to see done.Type scandisk /? This should return a listing of the available choices. At dos prompt, type a line like in this example: scandisk c: /verbose/surface/nosummary If you use fdisk followed by format c: ,you will remove all errors on your drive and installation should be easy to start. In this case scandisk is not useful.Use it later after Windows is installed to make sure your drive is in good condition. Good luck.
