I am missing the newdot~1.dll file and I also connot connect to the internet with that computer. It is using windows ME. if anyone could help me that would be greatly apreciated.

http://www.cexx.org/newnet.htm
click homepage link for info on removing newdotnet from your pc,
also see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q303379

here is an easier way of fixing it. Delete/rename winsock2 key in the registry. Then uninstall/resinstall communications in add/remove--->
windows setup replaces winsock without having to reinstall windows.
(from cexx.org)1st goto add/remove in control panel and
remove newdotnet ,then do the above.^

to rename winsock2 in control panel
start-run-type in regedit -click ok
then click edit-click find type in
winsock2-press enter
right click winsock2 -choose rename-
rename it oldwinsock2
exit regedit reboot.

before changing anything
make a system snapshot in system restore
start=programs-accessories-system tools-system restore.
so if it goes wrong you can restore to before
trying the above suggestions.

The two problems you are having are related, but until you clean off Newdotnet, it will continue to actively corrupt the winsock2 key. Trust me... I've seen it happen too many times.
If you would like some help removing NEW.NET from your computer, you can contact them at:
support@new.net
According to their message board, if you leave some contact information and your problem with them they will call you and help you uninstall their REALLY CRAPPY BADLY MADE FRIGGIN PLUGIN!
Man... that felt good....
If you are handy dandy with the registry, the manual removal instructions for New.net are located on their message board here:
Registry Instructions for Newdotnet Removal
They are long... and a pain in the *ss, but it should take care of the problem as there are instructions there for manually plucking this thing out of the winsock keys.
Like I said, you can contact them and they should call you to help.
Chris the gnome - According to the folks and test and program AdAware... they are not going to remove new.net anymore. Appearently... it's not technically spyware. It's crappy nasty goofy programming... but not spyware. I believe the newest versions of AdAware do not remove this plug in. Just FYI....

These posts are gettin' livelier, newgrl!! I wonder what they'll be like in another year or so....... Keep up the good work on newdot :)
