Missing Files But still There!! Help

If i go to my computer and then c every thing has dissapeared but at the bottom it says there is 26 files... and the amount of megabytes.....help.....some of my programs dont work aswell.....i have tried going to start and run but same problem...i can see my folers on the right and the pluses and minuses.......but no files when i click on them.....anyone who has come across this problem....please help me...i am a very busy person....
