OS: Windows ME 4.90.3000
CPU/Ram: Intel Celeron / 64 RAM
Product: HP / Pavilion
Comment:

My system crashed and I had to format the HD and reintall Windows again. Now my system doesn't recognize my ethernet card.
On the System Properties -> device manager: there is a ? icon and listed under other devices says PCI Ethernet Contoller. When I open the window for it says:

? PCI Ethernet Controller
Device Type: Other devices
Manufactturer: None specified
Hardware Version: 017
Device Status:
The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28).

I looked on the back and it says Linkryr. I couldn't find any company w that name. What can I do.
Please help, thank you very much.

Remove the device from Device Manager. Restart the computer. If it's still not showing up, then shut down the machine, remove the card, reboot the machine, shut down, reinsert the card. P&P should detect it at that point and allow you to install the drivers.

We don't know if your ethernet card is built into the motherobard or if it's an add-in.

A couple of suggestions...

1. If you have a modem and internet connection, go to
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
and click on "Start Detection"

2. On the same page, enter your exact model number.

3. Post back your exact model number and serial number.

4. Bring it over to the house, and I'll do it all for you.

@ Jennifer SUMN
It does recognize it as new hardware. But it can't find the driver anywhere and me neither.

@ SkipCox
I can't access internet w that PC
As far as I know the computer came w that card, but I can't find the driver for the card anywhere.

I want to know if there is some kind of general plug & play driver I could try to install or do I have to open the PC and see who is manufacture and try to get a specific driver for that card. Or if I just have to buy a new card altogheter.
Thanks again for the help.
