I have a pentium III and recently installed more RAM and a bigger hard drive, thinking this would make things run faster and smoother. It didn't. One problem is that I am constantly getting 'Microsoft error report' windows when I click on a link, asking me if I want to send an error report to the mothership or not. Either way, it closes down the page and I lose everything. This happens about 20 times a day. Does anyone know what could be causing this or what I could do about it? Thanks.

Try doing what it says in point 16 and then repair Internet Explorer:
Control panel, Add/Remove programs, MS Internet Explorer 6, click add/remove, select Repair Internet Explorer

In Windows ME, to disable the error reporting tool in IE 6, you must create a registry value and set it to zero. This can be a daunting task if you have never done it, but I will try to explain. If you have IE 5.5, just uninstall the Error reporting tool from add/remove programs in the control panel.

To disable Error reporting of IE 6 from Win98, ME, NT and 2000:

First, back up the registry by going to start>>run>>scanregw
It will tell you there are no problems and a copy of the registry has already been backed up today, do you want to back it up again.
Say Yes.

Go to start>>run>>regedit
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
When you highlight Main on the right hand side of the registry editor you will see a Name and Data column.
Right click anywhere there is a white space on the right and choose New>>Dword
It will prompt you to name this new Dword value.
Type:

IEWatsonEnabled

Just like that. It is case sensitive.
Hit enter.
Now... double click on IEWatsonEnabled.
A Box will come up prompting you for a value.
Make sure it is set to 0 (zero).
Click ok.
Close the registry editor and reboot.

Now... when you get the error, you should actually get and error and not the "Error reporting tool".

Instructions garnered from the Microsoft Knowledgebase:
Description and Availability of Internet Explorer Error Reporting Tool (Q276550)

For the time being... there is a small link on the error reporting box that says "To see what your data error report says, click here". Click on the link and let us know what error message you are getting.

When connected to the internet, my computer occassionally shuts itself down, displaying "explorer error MSHTML.DLL"...
What is happening and how can I avoid this?

I am having the same problem. I am currently running Win98se with IE6. AMD XP 1800+, 256MB PC2100, and ECS 57S5A mobo. I just built the system two days ago. I never had this problem from IE before. If I disable the error reporting, will I still be able to access the pages......or will I just get the "page not available" display? Also, will "repairing" IE from the add/remove programs fix the problem without disabling the error reporting?

Thanks for any help!
