Mic wont work with msn

Well, my microphone will basically work with anything except msn messenger.
No I am not networked or behind any firewall at all. Any suggestions?

Do you have msn messenger version 5 or earlier?Msn messenger version 6 has help for your issue.

Questions, are to narrow down problems.MSN Messenger5.0 had a problem with win me and microphone.I was going to suggest you uninstall and reinstall MSN Messenger.

I found whenever I was having problems wih my mic being detected in this application or others I would open the sound recorder app that comes with Windows > Start/Accessories /Entertainment/sound recorder < then I would use that app to configure my mic ,make sure its working ,then go back to MSN and try using mic again . I found I would have to do this everytime B/4 using a app with my mic ,if it was not being detected ! Good Luck Nick

My mic works perfectly fine with everything else. Like I can record stuff as usual and have Audio conversation with people over AIM, but just not MSN messenger.
Something is telling me, that ME is not compatible with having audio conversations with those on XP even though that makes no sense at all.
