this is really bugging the hell out of me...my mic has been working perfectly with my pc and the game half-life for months. but for some reason one day i started messing with the half-life voice configuration utility (please do not ask why) and now it doesn't work. neither windows nor half-life is recognizing any input. i have checked and double checked everything...the mic is correctly plugged in, i checked the mic volume in sndvol32, and i even tried 2 or 3 microphones in its place so i know it's not a hardware problem. any advice you may be able to offer would be appreciated, thanks.

Try system restore to the day before you messed up the PC. We all learn the hard way.

system restore could not be done because no changes had been made to the computer since that date..checked the mic again and still nothing.

Did you try the voice configuration thing again? Do you have enable Mic in the customize part of Half life? Try cleaning the plug to where the mic goes.
