Up until this past week, Windows ME has been running fine on my Dell PIII 500. For some reason now at shutdown i get the "MS DOS Prompt Net" is running and it halts the shutdown process. I tell the system to close it and it seems to, but the shutdown sequence stalls and I have turn the PC mannually. I was doing some tinkering with msconfg prior to this starting and could have caused something to happen, but I don't think that was the case. Any suggestions as to what is going on? Thanks.

You may have changed a setting somewhere that is causing it. Try doing a system restore to a point where you knew everything was ok.

Change your settings in dial-up-networking
to "Never Connect" You will have to make a
shortcut to the dial-up when you want e-mail
etc. Make sure before you shutdown to hang
up the connection (in tray). I just worked
through the problem on Win98 and this solved
it. Hope it helps
